 You wouldnt think a electric shaver could get this close September 6, 2010

First off this is a beautiful piece of machinery that seems to be well built.For the size of the shaver you would think it weighs 5lbs but it is very light for its size and sleek piano finish a nice touch. Very easy to use and very easy to clean
The first day I got it in the mail I was very excited to use it. It took me 10 min to skim the manual and to set it up. The next morning I turned it on with the surprise as to how loud it was, kinda sounds like the clippers they use at the barber shop. About half way through the shave it nicked me pretty good and started to bleed. That was the first and only time this razor has nicked me or cause any other irritations and i think it was lack of experience or a imperfection in my face. For the most part this razor over the last 2 months has cut as good or better than my mach3 I have been using for years but with out the irritation and cuts. With the mack3 I could only shave every other day or so but with the Panasonic i walk out the door with that baby face look every morning. The only time I have trouble shaving with the Panasonic is when it is humid outside and the razor sticks to my face but when that happens I just take it in the shower with me. In the shower it feels like I am getting a closer shave but when I look in the mirror after I am done the dry shave does a much better job.I am absolutely astounded by the fact that it gets close to my face with almost no razor burn. Their are some spots on my face that are a little hard to cut and require me to stretch my skin to get that close cut but it is worth it.
The cleaner and charger has it pros and cons
I looked at many reviews before buy this razor and found one thing consistent with all reviews is how loud the cleaner is. I though to my self, how loud could this thing actually be. This cleaner sounds exactly like a tire filling station that you find at a gas station that coast 75 cents to fill your tire. Maybe not quit as loud but definitely sounds the same. The function of the cleaner and charger work flawlessly. I like the fact that you can wash and dry or just dry if you clean it yourself. I only wash and dry maybe once a week to conserve the detergent cartridge which in my mind is not really needed.I put a little body soap on it while it is running and add a little water and wala.
As for the price, there is no way I would have paid 499.99 for this razor but with the price drop it put it in the good price range for what you get. In my opinion if you like to pamper yourself and look good than this razor is for you if you can get past the price and small imperfection.
When I clicked the button to complete my order I stared to second guess myself, thinking I was a smuck for paying that much for a razor that probably worked just as good as the cheap ones. If I could do it all over again knowing what I know now after using it for 2 months their would have been no second guessing.

really nice shaver, gives the closest smooth shave of any electric shaver that I have had before.

I have been shaving for 40 years. I have tried many different electrics. None provided the close shave I require. The Panasonic is astounding. I cannot evaluate the cleaning system but I am very satisfied with the razor itself.

I bought this razor 3 months ago and still have the Braun 7 Series in the closet. There is simply no comparison as the Panasonic does the best job - I am one of those people that can't use a blade because I would cut myself constantly so I've been using electric razors for more that 10 years now(always the top of of the line Braun except now for this Panasonic). I never imagined that my face could be as smooth as someone that uses a razor - thank you Panasonic! I achieve this great result using dry shaving, about 5 minutes and going twice over the neck area - while this Panny does a great job on the chin, like all electrics, it needs 2 or more passes on the neck areas but that is a small price to pay for a truly smooth face.
I clean my shaver with regular soap and water after every use and only use the little cartridge and autocleaning feature about once per week - in the 3 months I had it, I still have the initial cartridge. One trick is to clean the water tank after every auto cleaning you do to prevent hair buildup and premature drying of the detergent cartridge.
If you can afford the high price, do yourself a favor and get it - your face will thank you for it.

chaos
I have only had this shaver for about 2 weeks when the Charger/Cleaner System started flashing red and stopped working. Sent it to the Panasonic Service Repair Center and they confirmed that the unit needs replacement which will take almost 2 months. The shaver works fine but the Charger/Cleaner unit is absolute junk and even worse is Panasonic Service. This is a lot of money for something that only works for 2 weeks.
