Great WORX Unit - Terrible Batteries July 26, 2010 Prof D (Peosta, IA USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought my WORX trimmer AND blower on April 18, 2010 with two WORX batteries. It is now July 26, 2010. One battery has completely failed and the other works only 2 to 3 minutes on "full charge". Maybe the charger is the problem. I have called the WORX helpline and (after some rather dull music for about 15 minutes) they have agreed to replace both batteries free of charge (so they say).
Don't get me wrong...the WORX trimmer and blower work GREAT. It is just that the batteries, well, are terrible. Made in mainland China...it figures.
WORX Lithium-Ion Battery July 26, 2010 Gene Kohlenberg (Penfield, NY, US) This battery powers a string trimmer, among other things. This battery pack is light weight and provides power for the light weight string trimmer. I bought this second battery so that I can extend trimming time. It works as advertised.
Battery Life July 24, 2010 KERRY Battery life is right at 30minutes of in use time, which is just riht for my purposes. However, after only 1 year of use the battery has failed. If this is typical then you are wasting your money on this product and the trimmer. I am buying another battery as i have already invested in the trimmer, but if this battery does not last I won't be a replacing it.
23.4 WATT-hours ONLY!? Where is the other half? July 21, 2010 S. Zlatev ((Bergen Co.), NJ United States) This is horribly small capacity! my Laptop battery is >2x this...(18V*1.3Ah=) 23.4Wh for this vs 51Wh for a typical Laptop battery.
Considering the $65 price +$4.77 S&H... You get HALF THE BATTERY for the same price. Competitors have 2x for just same price considering 18V * 3.0Ah = 54Wh from:
(at time of writing Amazon Price)
Makita BL1830($73.70 Free S&H),
Milwaukee 48-11-1830 ($77.70 Free S&H) ,
Hitachi 326241 ($79.00 FreeS&H)
I know now why Worx's TV commercials seemed fishy.
