| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The chef's knife is a kitchen staple, with a wide straight edged blade ideally suited to cutting and chopping fruits and vegetables, herbs, and so on. Some may find the 10" length too awkward and unwieldy, and for those people we recommend this slightly shorter knife. R. H. Forschner is a division of Swiss Army Brands, Inc, renowned for the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. These knives are specially ground and tempered so that they can be resharpened over and over again, keeping a sharp edge throughout their lifetime. State of the art technology blended with old world craftsmanship produce cutting instruments of excellent quality, at reasonable prices. Forschner Victorinox Fibrox knives have earned high marks in a well-known cooking magazine which stringently tests kitchen products.

go get this knife March 11, 2010 Sheri S. Willson (Tulsa, OK United States) Go get this knife! Now! You won't be sorry. This is my where-have-you-been-all-my-life
knife. I reach for it several times a day. I've only had it about a week, so I can't say how
it will hold up, but so far I love it. I have Henkles, Wustoffs, Cutco, Mac--this has become
my go-to knife.
Not for small hands, but a great knife! March 9, 2010 Laura M. Place (Alexandria, VA) This is a great knife - a little lighter than my preference, but it is sharp, appears sturdy, and the handle has *superb* grip. I didn't know a handle could be so superbly grippy until using this knife.
But! A caution for the WOMEN purchasing knives... unless you have larger hands than the average gal, consider a smaller knife. I know, I know - always consider dimensions before you order. But! I didn't, and while this knife is still usable, I think a reminder is in order that the size of knife considered "small" or "mini" by many knife manufacturers is actually what women can more confidently and comfortably use. This is large enough to be ungainly in my hands.
Great knife - just double-check that it's the right size for your hand first, by measuring a knife you already know and love.
Fibrox 8" Chef's knife March 7, 2010 Stuart Big (Boston,MA USA) I had a bias against knives that weren't forged. This inexpensive knife is extremely sharp, light weight, and the handle has a great grip. It's still new so only time will tell if it maintains the edge and can be resharpened well. In the meantime, if your considering expensive cutlery take a look at this. Give it a try. Even if you don't like it, you're not out a king's ransom.
one of the best I have ever used March 3, 2010 J. loewinsohn I have ALWAYS loved forschner knives, I worked as a professional chef for better than 25 years, and I have to say I POSITIVELY HATE plastic handled knives,...I ALWAYS bought rosewood. A fellow chef suggested that I give the "black fibrox" handled knives a shot, it might change my mind on the plastic,......well, he was right,...the handle stays "grippy" even with your hands covered in oil, chicken fat, water, flour,...it didn't matter, the handle ALWAYS stayed "grippy",...amazing.
also the design of the "grip area" where the handle meets the blade was DESIGNED by someone who held a knife everyday for a long time, it takes NO pressure to grip, and the balance is perfect for fast chopping, or mincing "pepin style".
I'll be ordering more of the fibrox handles in the near future
GREAT knife March 2, 2010 Eva D. Wehrle Very good chefs knife. Balanced in weight. Holds an edge well. It's now my main work knife.
