Attractive and Functional December 21, 2009 Ramona Stejskal Brought a couple of large topical beauties in for the winter and popped them right into these light weight, great looking planters. Perfect in modern, minimalistic settings, I am now considering just leaving them indoors year around.
Great deal, kinda industrial looking October 11, 2009 keysgirl (Key Largo) These planters are nice enough and there is no way you could beat the price for something this size. The dimensions are a little awkward as I find them kind of deep for their width (measurements are correct in description though). I am hoping to take advantage of this by turning them into self-watering planters by adding the inserts sold at Gardeners Supply. I had hoped for a more metallic hint to the finish but it is a very flat dark grey. I like things that are simple and understated but these are so simple as to almost look industrial which can be a good thing, it is just not the best look for my bungalow style front porch. Still, they are well made and a great deal. They arrived extremely well packed too!
Great clean contemporary planters August 10, 2009 R. De Rose (Greenville, SC United States) Just what I was looking for, a clean contemporary look for indoor plants. Comes with no drainage hole, which is a plus for indoor use. You could put one in, but then add a base and ruin the visual appeal. Found it works best if you put a cheap plastic planter inside or gravel and a liner to hold the soil. This avoids root rot and keeps it looking clean.
Strathmore tall zinc planters July 15, 2009 L. Biringer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are stylish, attractive planters. Unlike another review I'd read before buying, I found them to not be watertight, so if you want to use them indoors and plant directly in them, you need to caulk the inside corners with a waterproof caulk (like a bathtub caulk) to seal them. They look wonderful and are a very good value for the price.
Attractive, good price, multiple possible uses (not just as planters) - only one issue July 2, 2009 Louie's Mom (Dallas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are very attractive "planters" - they look more expensive than they are. You could use one to make a fountain, or fill one with ice and cold drinks for an outdoor party.
My only complaint is that the manufacturer didn't put a hole in the bottom. If you put a plant in one of these outdoors, and you get a heavy rain, your plant might end up with root rot. I'll put a plant in mine but will have to get my handyman to figure out what kind of drill bit to use and then drill a drainage hole for me for the bottom. As an alternative you could fill it with several inches of gravel I guess, before adding the soil, and hope for the best. If you live in a dry climate this may not be an issue but if you live somewhere like Florida where it rains a lot you'll definitely want to drill a hole before planting anything in it.
MANUAFACTURER: A hole in the bottom, with a plastic plug in it, would make this a FIVE STAR item.
