| Customer Reviews: good sink/base for good price but be advised.. December 4, 2009 R. Ellison (NYC) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The faucet fixture that this comes with has hot and cold supply lines that terminate with 1/2'' female non compression fittings. Meaning they fit 1/2'' male hot/cold supplies. But my supply lines have 3/8'' as I believe many homes have. Addressing this issue was a bummer, I did not find any magical 1/2'' to 3/8'' adapters/couplers. So what to do? The following was the cheapest / easiest solution I could find--total cost for two male/male 1/2'' couplers was less than $5.
I salvaged the flex supply lines from my prior trashed faucet fixture. These had 1/2'' female on one end and 3/8'' female on the other. Then I went to plumbing supply (you may have good luck in your local hardware store) and bought two 1/2'' male/male couplers (adapters). They look like a solid threaded 1/2'' piece. For each line, I connected one end of the coupler onto the 1/2'' line that came with the fixture and the other side to the 1/2'' salvaged flex tube. Then the other open end on each was 3/8'' and I was set to connect to my hot/cold supply. I made sure the couplers were well connected on both sides using teflon tape etc.
Subject to the above, I think this is a good value all inclusive kit and recommend it. The base assembled well with good instructions and seems solid; and the sink and faucet operate well and the whole thing looks decent.
